[at-l] My reply to Sloetoe's reply

Sloetoe sent me a personal e-mail and suggested that I send the reply to the
list that I sent to him (can you follow that?). Anyway, here is a copy of
our correspondence:

I'll be disappointed if your post doesn't generate some good
threads. We seem
to be at a busy time, though, so you may get off light.
Any thoughts on water filters, sleeping pads, white blaze purity,
{gimme a
minute, I'm thinkin'} you'd care to through out to the list?

I use the standard ole PUR hiker, the Ridgerest sleeping pad, and don't
slackpack (unless you count going up the backside of Springer from USFS 42
without my pack), yellow blaze, or blue blaze around sections of the trail.
However, I don't have a definition of "purity" for anyone else, and could
care less about being a member of any "society" which will certify a new
definition of hiking the whole trail other than the ATC 2000 miler patch.

BTW, my trip report can be found on my website. Just look at the link under
the picture on my homepage where it says 2000 AT Hike Summary & Journal.
You can find about 75 new pictures, also, where it says Trail Picture Index,
or you can link them from the journal entries. I have about 10 days
(between 5/19 and 5/28) still to add.

My address on the web is: http://www.oc.edu/staff/phil.heffington

BTW, I also use the Peak 1 Cobra tent (it's really not big enough for two,
though), and I took the pictures I shared this year with a new Olympus
Stylus 80 camera. It has a zoom feature from 28-80 whatevers, and has some
features which make it water resistant. I would suggest turning off the
flash when outdoors, as it tends to overexpose some pictures when the flash
is left on outside.
