Stop, take a good look, say nice snaky, then step around or over it and be

The poisonous have small holes in their fangs for the poison to flow thru.
Seriously, Go to a zoo or somewhere that has Copperheads and Rattlesnakes,
Take a good look; you'll remember those and don't worry about any that don't
look like them. If you are the very paranoid type also look at a Water
Moccasin although I can't think of anywhere on the AT that you might run
into
them.
