An Olympus Stylus Epic (non zoom) weighs 4.5 oz w/o batteries.  Are you sure
about the 12 oz weight?

The Elph is an APS camera.  I have the regular model (a heavyweight at 8oz
or so) and am pretty happy with it.  IMHO Kodak never fully followed through
with APS, and film processing is too expensive.

The Stylus Epic is a cool camera... I wish I had one.  The non-zoom model
has a F2.8 lens, which is very fast for a point an shoot camera and
supposedly very sharp.  It weighs almost nothing, and it is water/rain
resistant.
