[at-l] Slackpacker song

(Gutsy) I'm back home for a couple of days then I'm off again to work with
the Konnorock crew in GA. I enjoyed two wonderful weeks of hiking on the AT
and met tons of great people. Here is a song I found in the Cherry Gap
shelter. It's to the tune "Addicted to Slack" by Robert Palmer. The words
were written by Belcher and Tangerine.

Addicted to Slack

Your pack is on
But it's not full
Thru hikers think you're cool
You've got some food
And water, too
You'll be done
Before noon.

Chorus:
Oh, you'd like to think that you'd love a full pack;
But you might as well face it,
You're addicted to slack;
You might as well face it,
You're addicted to slack, (etc.)

High mileage
Ain't too hard
' Cuz someone's waiting
In a car.
You're going south
To get to Maine
Purists call you
Ugly names. (Chorus)

Freedom hiking
Is its other name.
Try it once
You're not the same.
You go to bed
With a foot rub
After visiting
The hot tub. (Chorus)

A late start
Out of bed
Doesn't matter
At the trail head.
A quick pace
That people fear
Tells all the purists
To kiss your rear. (Chorus)
