Yet Another Use for LARD:
Found out while visiting Jupiter this weekend that the lighthouse keepers of 
the late 1800s in Florida used...you guessed it...LARD oil to create the 
flame in the lighthouses to keep ships from grounding along the Atlantic 
coastline.
