[at-l] Mt Rogers

Well, Coosa, Chris and Orens met at The Place at various times on Thursday.
Coosa got there early and ended up at Eleanor Grasselli's and went out to
Abingdon to eat. Chris was there when they got back. Coosa and a number of
Thrus and Sections waited up until Scotty-Skywalker showed up with 3 cakes
and a box of cookies and a box of bread. Then Chris went to sleep, and
Coosa stayed up until Orens arrived at around 2:30 AM with 6 five-gallon
containers of pastel paint for the interior walls of The Place.

Friday the Three Intrepids hiked to Eleanor's. She shuttled us up to Massie
Gap. We all walked in a ways and Coosa got to pet a very pregnant pony on
the nose. Then it started to sprinkle about a mile from Rhododendron Gap
and then it started sleeting. Coosa don't do snow. So she and Eleanor
hiked back. Chris decided to join them, but Orens hiked on and we were to
pick him up on Saturday morning at Elk Garden.

Chris and Coosa went to Eleanor's for something to eat, Chris realized she
was getting sick and after eating, went back home to Jacksonville, FL.

Saturday, Coosa drove Eleanor up to Elk Garden to get Orens. They got there
early and some hikers told them that Orens was "on his way" -- so they hiked
toward Whitetop in the snow for 45 minutes before turning around. When they
got back to the car, Orens was inside. He had had a cccold night, no hat
or gloves and had fallen on his face walking along the horse-path on the way
to Elk Garden. Coosa drove Orens to his car and he was to get a shower and
they would all get together again.

Saturday night, Coosa and Eleanor went to the Blue Grass Concert at Callies.
Orens was no where to be found. Coosa danced with Vienna (a Thru she trail
angeled at Low Gap Shelter a month before). (Don't tell anyone cause Coosa
don't dance, either.) She ended up on the floor when she and Vienna tipped
over -- but that's just between us, of course.

Sunday, Coosa left for her cousins, spent the night at Cumberland Gap
Campground, then on Monday visited the new Zoe's Mountain Sports store in
Cumberland Gap, TN. And she found a pair of Merrell Summits that fit 'like
a glove' so she bought them. Tuesday, Coosa drove home via Joyce Kilmer
Memorial and took a short hike there.

Didn't see anyone else from the list -- where were you all? Mt Rogers had
about 3 inches of snow, btw.

Coosa
who don't do snow
since hypothermia is no longer an option
and she didn't have expedition weight gear
