[at-l] blackflies and ticks

Recently someone mentioned using those fabric softener sheets that go in
the dryer to keep bugs away. I was told by one hiker that he tied these
sheets around his boots to keep ticks off. He told me this with a
straight face but somehow I still think he was trying to pull a joke on
me. 

So, anyone every hear of this? Hopeful
