Actually, it is a bit of overstatement. Most anti-inflammatory drugs will 
cause a minuscule amount of GI bleed - such as while the aspirin tab sits 
on gastric mucosa and dissolves. Many will also cause decreased platelet 
clumping, hence slow the cessation of a bleed (a good thing to help prevent 
MI or stroke). Alcohol may enhance gastritis and risk of GI bleed, 
particularly if it is the primary source of calories and nutrition. Alcohol 
is also a vasodilator, hence possibly giving a larger egress for that blood 
(a reason to avoid ethanol when hypothermia lurks).

But in general, no reason not to chase a couple of Advils with a Moosehead. 
The relative risks are small. I cannot remember any alcoholic GI bleeds 
following consumption of analgesics, other than MD 20/20.

But check it out with your real world doc before taking this advice.
