they say they're gonna retain an individual board, and continue social
service projects. i for one, will be shocked as hell if a massive

AMC along with the Northern Forest Alliance, established Businesses for the
Northern Forest in 1995 to address the growing problem of development, poor
forest management, and the subdivision of land in the Northern Forest that
threatens the fabric of life in rural communities. BNF acts as an
information clearinghouse and helps to facilitate joint projects with
specific businesses and communities. Funds were provided to help develop a
model grassroots program and to arm businesses with the tools they need to
adequately address the issues that effect their way of life. By focusing on
the rural business constituency, BNF adds an important and influential voice
to the debate over the future of the Northern Forest.

NFC's ultimate goal is to pass a ""Forever Wild"" amendment to the US
constitution, modeled after the 1894 New York constitutional amendment
protecting the Adirondack Park. This amendment would prohibit destructive
commercial activities on public lands and ensure they remain in public
ownership. Strategies include: working with national and regional opinion
leaders and groups to gain their endorsement; educating the public about the
need to protect public lands; and increasing the visibility of Forever Wild
in the national media and Congress. Funds were provided for the educational
and outreach component of the campaign in the Midwest.
