As a conniseur (sp?) of Milky Way, while I have not tried the new Midnight (I 
just saw it the other day in the store) I suspect is a the same as a Dark. 
Marketing strategy and all that. Yes, the name does have more appeal. And 
ones choice of chocolate to carry on a hike is an important one. Chocolate 
and hiking are natural companions; therefore a discussion of chocolate is by 
definition, trail related.
