'Modern' dress kilts have 8-9 yards of cloth, depending on the pleating,
sporting kilts like the ones used by highland game participants, 5-6, and
replicas of early 'Braveheart' type kilts would have 20-24 (and more ) yards
of cloth, never pleated.
