Re: [at-l] Spinning the Springer hits

This was one of my favorites during my 97 hike:

(Sung to the Don Henley tune . . .)

Nobody on the Trail
Beneath the oak and beech.
I hear 'em in the air
But they're just out of reach.
Empty shelters, tent flaps zipped, hear them whine and drone
I'm tearing down the path, but they won't leave me alone ...

REFRAIN
I can see you,
Yer red welts bleedin' in the sun
You got yer socks pulled up, that
Deep Woods Off on, ... baby
I can tell you
This walk of ours can still be fun
After the bugs of summer are done

Out on the Trail today
I saw a blackfly sitting on a horsefly's back
Little voice next to my ear said
"nnnnnNNNNNNNnnnnn....nnnnNNNNNNN"
Til I gave it a whack.
Thought I knew what bugs were
How could I know?
And when I take my boots off
they bite between my toes ...

REFRAIN
I can see you,
Yer red welts bleedin' in the sun
You got yer socks pulled up, that
Deep Woods Off on, ... baby
I can tell you,
This walk of ours can still be fun,
After the bugs of summer are done
