That's what the microwave is for.

"Don Holm's book of Food Drying, Pickling and Smoke Curing"
ISBN 0-87004-250-5

Pretty good recipes. Real manly-man stuff. The book appears
to be out of print, but perhaps that's just as well. Here's
a sample quotation:

"Diabetic Note
Many of the recipes in this book which call for sugar,
especially those in smoke curing, can successfully use
Sugar Twin or a similar substitute, provided they have
not been banned by the Food and Drug Administration."

Ick.

Adios,
MF
