How about Febreeze (or is it Fabreeze), something like that.  My daughter
bought a velvet couch at Goodwill Industries for use in her room at boarding
school.  When she got it outside in the sunshine and into a pick-up for
transport, it let out an incredible odor of cats, cigarettes, etc.  They
drove directly to Wally-World and bought a can of that stuff.  It worked
miracles.  The couch is odor-free and in our home now, not that I really
wanted it here, but she won't part with it.  :^)  Leslie
