RE: [at-l] My backpack is STANKY!!

You'll need some powered detergent, cold water and a medium to soft scrub
brush. Some folks like to separate the hip belt, pack bag, etc. from the
rest or each other to aid washing and drying. This is especially true for
us external frame bigots. Wash the sweetheart down (hoses work well) inside
and out with plain water to get worst of stuff off and out. Mix powered
(not liquid) detergent with water in pail. Scrub the pack inside and out
with the brush (bathtubs are wonderful for this), rinse thoroughly and hang
to dry. In drying you may want to turn it inside out and back again
periodically. Don't use liquid detergent, it will cling to the synthetic
fabrics and not mix properly with the water. Tons of bubbles next time you
hike in the rain.

PS: you could just buy a new pack...
