Campbell Hollow: On July 10, 1999 the Campbell Hollow relocation was 
opened. This relocation moved the trail off of Campbell Hollow Road and 
eliminated the last significant road walk on the Tennessee section of 
the Appalachian Trail. The relocation is about a mile in length and 
replaces about 1/2 mile of road walking and 1/2 mile of trail walking in 
the boggy section at Jones Branch.
The relocation eliminates passing by the "mean dogs" which were infamous 
to hikers on this section. (7/13/99)
