Burn 1000 calories an hour ......woohoo!

The little snowshoeing I've done with in 2 or 3 feet of snow. I'm not sure
it's worth the effort if the snow is much lower than that. The amount you
sink into the snow depends a lot on the type of snow, and the type of shoe.
What kind of shoes did you get (brand?, style?).

LOL..being one of those people who is inseam challenged (27') makes them
worth the bother in MUCH less than three feet!!!!!

The snow we received this month was the fluffiest in memory and the relentless
cold had kept it fluffy for my first attempts. Only last weekend's 40's have
allowed a crust and some compaction. While plowing through 2 feet of fluff
is doable for me, the present snow REALLY makes the shoes an advantage!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!! No more punching through!!! Just a gentle settling . Man...
where have these things been all my life! I can hardly wait till it gets
really
crusty. to the point where you fall through every fourth or fifth step. No
more knee destruction. WaaaaHoo!

And thanks for the up/down tips......today's agenda....my training hill!!!!!!
But I think I'll skip the steps <g>......hmmmm that could be a problem <sigh>.

The shoes I bought are Tubb's Discovery series...Venture (large)
Billed as Recreational shoes they lack some features I might want in my
next pair. The straps are not quick release, which I might change. and
the binder arrangement doesn't look like it would hold up to heavy use.
But considering the dearth of snowy PA winters lately, I don't think I'll
wear them out soon. I went for this model cause I wasn't sure I would
like or be able to do it and didn't want to sink a lot of money into them
plus they are incredible light!!!

It is just such a hoot to walk on water <g> . And I can finally leave my
long legged hubby in MY dust LOL, Of course he is starting to give me
funny looks that say there may be anther pair in our future <g>

Go for it Wisperlight!!!! Hit that attic sale!!!!!!!
