Several years ago, National Geographic had an article on species that have
adapted and come back stronger than ever.  Remarkably, the black bear was on
the list.  Wild turkeys, alligators, deer, eagles, and several more that
escape memory.  Oh, yes, Canada geese were in there.

We had a possum in our garage several years ago.  Finally, the only way that
I found to make him leave was to spray him thoroughly with the hose.  A few
months later, we had a big snow (like 8"---the biggest we've had here in the
10 winters we've lived here).  When we opened the garage door and backed
out, there was a dead possum right beside the door.  I must admit that I
felt a little guilty about that.  Then, we had the problem of getting rid of
the carcass.  I'd forgotten about that incident until this post came up.
