[at-l] atmdebitcreditivisa getting cash

I can't take it any more.

"Visa" is a brand, linking banks who by agreement honor electronic commerce from their (commercial) customers. There are other brands.

"ATM cards" allow cash withdrawals from agreement-linked machines around the world. Depending on the agreement(s), ATM cards may also allow deposits, transfers, inquiries, insults to major political figures, etc. Also depending on the agreement(s), ATMs may charge your account for fees stemming from your ATM activities — these fees vary by home bank, host bank, ATM branding, and state banking jurisdiction.

Credit cards credit (allow additions to) debt accounts via purchases and cash advances, according to limits in the brand of credit agreement in which the cardholder participates.

Debit cards debit (withdrawal from) existing checking accounts at brick&mortar banking institutions just as do your paper checks, according to the limits of your checking account.

Thus,
a "Visa" card is not a credit card is not a debit card; it is a brand card which may operate under a credit card agreement OR a debit card agreement.

a credit card does not take buckos from your checking account.

a debit card can do things an ATM card cannot (like buy groceries).

99% of establishments which take BrandX credit cards take BrandX debit cards, as well. If it doesn't swipe, have them run the number by hand; expect to have your PIN required — enter it yourself.

an ATM card works an automatic teller machine and nothing else.

an "ATM/Visa is an ATM card provided by your bank with a debit card ability. it is NOT a credit card.

a credit card may be used at an ATM to procure cashola, with such transaction incurring the credit card's "cash advance" costs, immediate interest charges (for those who pay off from month to month to avoid said charges) AND the ATM's standard "non-participating bank" cash withdrawal fees.

Phew! Anybody else tired?
