A couple points please....
Since you are on both lists, have you made a similar comments on ATML
about the mean spirited posts about the:
AMC.....which has been described as slave masters, thruhiker exploiters and
money grubbers
ATC..... which has been described as ineffectual traitors to the Trail
ALDHA....which have been alluded to as rip offs and thieves
BILL BRYSON......who gas been pilloried for any number of things including,
as Dan was honest enough to say last year, making a lot of money and not
giving any to Dan.
All of the above organizations and people are Trail related as is Dan. He
is allowed to repeatedly rip into them without complaint. Yet everytime he
gets
discussed here, someone cries foul?
Let's review yesterdays posts....
KC revealed that her name and my name were not allowed to be entered into
TP Journals.
I take that as an opportunity to make another joke about the mystery of why I
don't have a trail name.
Red picks up the ball and takes it to the one yard line and then I went
over for the
TD with my Dear Janey joke post.
A number of people made note of the fact that the Handbook was not yet out.
Someone said it was at the printers.
Someone else said that that was what Dan said last year.
Someone said (without actually calling Dan a liar) that last year it wasn't
published
at all despite his repeated assurances to the class of 99 that it
was at the
printers.
Someone else pointed out that there was reason to wonder whether it would come
out this year.
Someone asked he odds.btw.....2 to 1 it does...email me private for betting <g>
Someone commented on how many hikers were left in the lurch because Dan
never told them it wouldn't be available.
Someone declared that HATT 2000 was WF free
There was a discussion of the pros and cons of the handbook versus the
companion.
There were a bunch of posts about possums and why kids don't play in the
snow and physical preps and the Ruck Stove contest, the Indiana
Ruckette
and Tommykins toidies or lack there of, Sneaushoes, trailnames
and maildrops.
Plus....Dan was referred to a narrow minded, paranoid and a few bricks
short of a load
and comments were made about him self destructing.
Narrow minded.....obviously true. His focus is on his vision of the way
the Trail should be.
Paraniod.....I think so. While my name may not be on a list of banned
words, AT-L is.
And that's because it's existence is, in his mind, a threat to his
plans. As long as
AT-L exists, TP will never be the only place to get online AT
information. There will
always be a choice.......a place to hear different
voices...uncensored opinions.
I don't think I went public with it at the time, but I was told by
Dan not to further
mention the Ruck and our efforts to raise money for The Place.....
obviously subversive activity.
And just try and mention HATT 2000. If you go to that website
you'll read:
HANDS ACROSS THE TRAIL 2000
TO PROVIDE A UNIFYING EXPERIENCE FOR APPALACHIAN TRAIL ENTHUSIASTS
Kinda high sounding description, but to me it means a chance for everyone
who can't thru
this year to take part in a spiritual hike....to have your energy flow from
hand to hand
from GA>ME. Daaangeerooous plan.......sure to be the destruction of the
Trail!!!! HA!
Someone explain to me, why these last two subjects cannot be discussed on ATML?
Except that they weren't Dan's ideas so they somehow threaten his
vision....yep paranoid.
As to the other comments...I've already gone on too long, except to ask if
you ever watch
Jay Leno or David Letterman. Compared to what they dish out nightly on
public figures,
what is said here about Dan doesn't even register on the mean spirited
Richter scale.
Nor does it compare to the rhetoric espoused on TP about the ATC, AMC or ALDHA
so please be fair with your outrage.
