This used to be a dynamite room a few years back when it was associated with 
Backpacker Mag.  Since then AOL and BP had a falling out, but in it's hey 
day, there were weekly scheduled chats including long distance hiking, AT, 
lightweight and industry (gear) nights.  Just about any night there'd be 
someone in there ready to talk trail and usally the Appalachian Trail, 
sometimes to the dismay of the west coasters!

There is still a dedicated group that's trying to revive the BP Chatroom on 
aol and usally meet Sunday nights.
