Thank you all for the suggestions, reading them had a calming effect.  
	I pretty happily hiked this summer with my Dana and a Kelty Clark, but
since winter has moved in and I've had more time to read all the books I
was supposed to last year, a sort of hysteric gear psychosis has descended
upon me.  
	Would like to get a 3-4 pound lighter pack though--7 does still seem
daunting when it's so much of the total weight.
	35 is with food but not water; when I'm more coherently decisive, having a
list shred apart would be a pleasure.  Again, much thanks.

	For anyone interested, IT'S FINALLY SNOWING IN VERMONT!  Going down to the
town bar for everyone's favorite activity:  watching cars slide down the
hill and betting on which one will hit the fire plug first.  Good driving
to all.
