Reading that they had backpacks makes it sound as though they could have
been prepared.  Perhaps, the backpack was just for the beer, though.  I can
see it now, "Hoosier woman, carrying a backpack and hiking sticks, was found
after three days of wandering loose in the Whites.  Although she seemed in
good health, she was able to utter only unintelligible single syllables.  In
lieu of her fine, she will be placed in a local mental hospital until speech
returns."  :^)  Leslie
