Aw, nuts. If ONLY that were true. But for some reason (some under- estimated loss of efficiency somewhere), most "elite" distance runners "are little slips of" men/women, and taller people seem to have a handicap when proportions are made relative. And the clock is absolute — it don't care. Dang. Nice thought though, Ken.

Couldn't this be a good hting. If that extra inch is in your legs your 
stride will be a tad longer whichmeans you can cover more ground per 
stride which means you reach the end the the race course more quickly 
which is, after all, the goal.
