[at-l] Hover Cover

OK, people, I'm disappointed. Nobody guessed what hover cover was. What's
worse, nobody seems to care!
So, I guess an education is in order here. I'm sure you all remember "Get
Smart," one of the shows responsible for arresting my humor at the
sophomoric level (Thank you, Mel Brooks!) Well, let me tell you, folks, I
really loved the exploits of 86 and 99. How much you ask? Well, let's just
say that for me they added up to more than 185.
Anyway, about a decade after the show was canceled, a full length TV movie
reunion show was done called (creatively enough) "Get Smart Again!" In it,
Control found several replacement technologies for the oft malfunctioning
"cone of silence" necessary to prevent evil KAOS from spying on confidential
communications. Of course, hover cover was one of these replacements. The
agents would go to the roof of their office tower and hail a group of
helicopters to hover over them, thus preventing eavesdropping -- or any
communication at all, for that matter -- yuck, yuck!
NOTE: Maxwell Smart acquired the cone of silence from Control at auction and
had it installed over his bed because he talked in his sleep.
I've heard it theorized that the hiker community is out of touch with the
important stuff that's going on in the world -- and I've tried not to give it
creedence clearwater revival -- but how you all could miss a TV event of this
magnitude a scant two decades ago gives me paws --and bears do have paws! :)
I hate to be judgmental, folks, but let's get with it!
Happy trails,
Solar Bear
"The true profession of a man is to find his way to himself." Still looking,
but I'm not finding any blazes. :)
